Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began her studies in marine science at the Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her journey working in the commercial seafood sector in the year 1999. That year she worked as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet boat, which was transformed into a fish tender. Bossard got married to Aritan in 1999 and the two have joined in fighting for their company. Both of them are proponents of conserving and profiting from sustainable resources within the fishing industry. Otolith has opened its market direct wholesale distributorship in Philadelphia when Bossard came back from her home home with her two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, to Philadelphia. The couple is separated by five months, plus more to allow her to focus on her goals in terms of finances and the environment. Bossard and her children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 make their annual return to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to catch wild salmon in summer. A troller with a size of 42 is used, the Bossards are able to catch salmon by hooks. Then they work alongside Aritan at a local processing plant for a couple of weeks. Amanda Bossard has been an anchor/MMJ for News 12 The Bronx since November of 2015, and for News 12 Brooklyn. She has a passion for spotlighting the good things happening in the boroughs she represents and telling stories that have an impact.
